Two Guernsey Girls Whole A2 Chocolate Milk | A Blast From the Past
Karl - February 11, 2025

I drove a couple hours to Two Guernsey Girls Creamery the other day, one of the several items I picked up for a taste test was a half gallon of their “Whole A2 Chocolate Milk”. This chocolate milk runs a high fat content of about 5%, far higher than your typical grocery store whole milk at 3.25%. This high fat content is a result of the quality milk produced by the Guernsey cow breed as well as the excellent milking feed that is given to the cows by owners Tammy and Brianna Fritsch on a daily basis. As an added bonus, if you are lactose intolerant this milk may be the ticket to enjoying chocolate milk again as A2 milk is far easier to digest for even some of the worst milk-adverse cases.
They say taste has a strong link to our memories.
First off, a little backstory. I grew up drinking Golden Guernsey Dairy milk on a daily basis. Some of you may remember what I am talking about when you see this:

I didn’t really pay attention to branding as a child, but everyone took Golden Guernsey for granted because if you lived in Wisconsin it's just what you drank every day. When you were at the grocery store you watched your parents grab the gallon with the big double G, you saw them open it at home, you drank the milk, you went to school, they had the little double G half pint cartons to rip open, you drank that with your hot lunch; sometimes I traded parts of my lunch to the surrounding table for extra GG milks. I was drinking Golden Guernsey for two decades and didn’t even realize it was gone until years later when I was trying to figure out why milk didn’t taste the same as when I was a kid. I hope Tammy Fritsch of Two Guernsey Girls forgives me for talking about a different brand for a little bit, but I felt like some groundwork was needed to describe what it was like opening up my half-gallon of Two Guernsey Girls Whole A2 Chocolate Milk for the first time.
The play-by-play.
I twist the cap and I’m hit with a nice hint of cocoa. I pour the chocolate milk into a clear glass so I can get a good look at the color. There’s some bubbles and foam at the top of the glass because I gave the unhomogenized milk a shake right before pouring. I don’t hesitate to take my first sip.
I’m not an emotional guy but there was a deep sense of nostalgia that came with the mouth-feel and flavor of this milk as soon as I got my first taste. I was transported back twenty years to my childhood; this was a flavor I hadn’t experienced in over a decade and it unlocked many core memories for me. I was reminded of the school lunch table, going to the grocery store with my parents, the friends I had, and the feeling of simpler times. This may all sound very dramatic - and it might be - but I certainly appreciated the blast from the past and it was a nice feeling.
The milk is rich and creamy, not “thick” like half-and-half but there is definitely a buttery mouthfeel and aftertaste that is characteristic of Guernsey milk. The chocolate flavor reminds me exactly of the chocolate milk from my childhood, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and savored my glass for as long as possible. There’s not much more I can say other than it does indeed taste like a premium chocolate milkshake. I drank the half gallon with my family in about 48 hours. The half gallon of Two Guernsey Girls Whole A2 White Milk I had also purchased was also gone a day later. It really is a phenomenal product and one I will be purchasing more often in the future!
